Top Ten Books I Wish I Could Read Again for the First Time


1. Harry Potter serie by J. K. Rowling
I remember the day I borrowed Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone from our library. I just fell in love. Now I've read all the books for few times.

2. Twilight serie by Stephenie Meyer
I heard all this talk about some stupid-glittering-vampire-books, and had to check it out. I bought first book, read it in a day, went to bookstore next day and bought the rest of the serie. And read it few times in a row. HOOKED.

3. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
I was probably eight years old, when my teacher read this book to our class. It was just so amazing. It took years to remember this books name again, but after that I read every book possible from Roald Dahl.

4. The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren
I was six or seven when my aunt read this to us one summer. Every night she would read chapter and I couldn't wait. I've read this few times since, but of course the first time was the best. It was amazing. But I need to find a copy for myself too, maybe I'll read this to my daughter one day. And maybe she'll love it just as much.

5. Little Women by Louisa M. Alcott
I read this first time when I was ten or so. Now I've read it probably ten times, or more, I think the last time was about year ago.

6. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Classic.

7. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
First english book I read! And haven't stopped since. Had to buy the whole serie after this first book.

8. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
Just read this, bought the second book before I even finished the first one. And the whole time I read this, I kept checking if the end was near. 'Cause I didn't want it to stop! Unfortunately, it did. And so did the second book. *sigh*

9. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
Read this when I was around 12, and yet again, has read it only million times after that. Actually just borrowed it from the library, again.

10. Nancy (And I Don't Want to Live This Life: A Mother's Story of Her Daughter's Murder) by Deborah Spungen
Read this about 10 times, should read again. And again. What can you do!

I didn't even read the synopsis from this, I just fell in love with covers that I had to have this one. Part 2 is also waiting in my book shelf, borrowed it from library, so I probably should start reading this one.

* It bothers me a little, how there's steam every where, but the girls face is so.. rough? Just stands out way too much.

Remember how I earlier mentioned, that I have some serious issues with German translated to Finnish? Guess the problem isn't with translation, it's the German style of writing. I actually discussed about this with one of my co-workers. It's admirable that someone can describe every little detail and still keep up with the plot. But it's really annoying when someone goes on and on and on and on about every freaking detail there is in the story-world. Just.. come on!

And this book is no exception. There sure is details. Details about the world Jacob is in. A lot. But the important details are missing, details about these people I'm reading about. There's no depth in the characters. That would've saved so much! There's not really much about their history, so they're really hard to connect with.

My favorite times were when they actually felt something! Like when Clara and Jacob ended up kissing, I was just so happy. I know it was wrong, but hey, I can't help it! At that point I was ready to say bye-bye to Will and hoped happily ever after for Clara and Jacob. That would've been so nice.

The end was just.. I don't even know. A little mix of hope and sandness and some other stuff, maybe? I'm always sad, when they're trying to kill off the main character. I felt little hope, since there will be Reckless #2 too. I was sad, since the first book left so many things just hanging. Seriously, I don't know whether to hate or love this book. Okay, it didn't raise that strong feelings, just occasional joy and/or annoyance. The book did get better after the first half of the book, but it took me like a month to get to that point!

So. Not sure if I'll read the part two when it's published. But still, I didn't really hate this and there was some parts I liked. So that's good, right?

I don't really know what to say about this one. Some parts I liked, some I didn't, in the end I wasn't really craving for more, like usually.

The story was written both Kate's and Jarrod's point of view, which was refreshing. But maybe because of this, I really didn't get deep enough with the characters. I like to know the main character(s) inside out, but that's not what I got. Some times they just lacked of emotions. Most of the time this was fun and easy to read, though. There was action, and occasionally some romantic scenes, which I'm a big fan of, even though I don't like to admit that..

Okay, so this book wasn't so thrilling all the time, but I did like the time they were in the past and most of the time enjoyed reading this. So it's a nice read, and if you need a book that doesn't require much thinking, this is a good choice.
