This week’s musing asks…

Would you say that you read about the same amount now as when you were younger? More? Less? Why?

That depends on which time you compare to.

When I was younger, I read all the time. I read 5 Nancy Drews per day! I sat everyday in the library and borrowed few bags of books per week. And I had few stacks of books just waiting to be read.

Then I became a real teenager and mostly hang out with my friends. I still read few books now and then, though mostly horror and autobiographies. Even though I read very little when compared to my earlier ages, I still read more than my friends compared. Actually, I was the only one, who had ever finished more than two books in my circle of friends! I truly thought that was odd. And they thought I was freak, 'cause it's much more fun to get drunk and do stupid stuff than to read! Of course, I still didn't stop reading, just thought my friends were more freaks than me, I mean, who doesn't read books?? One of my friends read one book her whole life, and that was only because her teacher made her. So weird.

Then I moved, met my future husband, who is a bookworm. After that, I kind of found my love for books again. So, now I read less than I did when I was around 13 years old, since I occasionally have to work, take care of the house and kid. But I definitely read now more than when I was a teenager. So I guess I have to say more, the same and less? But now my books are thicker and mostly in English, so let's say more, right? :)

From Book to TV #1

I have this habit to watch any tv show/ movie based on book. Many times, they're just crab, but I haven't let that stop me! So I'd like to introduce some of those tv shows/ movies! If you'd like to participate, just leave a comment and a link to your own blog post!

I decided to pick a new show, only the first episode has been aired, which I just finished.

grimm

is a new drama series inspired by the classic Grimm's Fairy Tales.Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, "Turn The Beat Around") discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as "Grimms," charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world.

As you can probably guess, this show is based on Grimms' Fairy Tales. As we all know, originally these fairytales aren't really the Disney- type, but gory and scary. I started to read these when I was age 8 or 9, and I had bad dreams for a long time. But I still had to read every story I could get my hands on.

I really enjoyed this first episode. It starts off with Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" playing on the background and I turned the volume up in my headset, so I could really enjoy the music.
Of course, I should've known that soon I would be scared shi.. I mean, speechless. Which is only suitable, knowing the original stories. This episode included parts of "Little Red Riding Hood" brought to modern life.
I liked when the main character met the first "Big Bad Wolf", and it turned out, that he actually wasn't so bad, thanks to diet, drugs and pilates! If there's any humor included, I'm usually fan right away! I'm easy that way.

Definitely will be watching the episode 2, "Bears Will Be Bears", which will be aired November 4th, less than a week to go!

There will be lots of rambling, it's really hard to focus my thoughts with this. I guess I need to read this again soon.

First, the cover.. Not as pretty as I hoped. The cover of Hush, hush is just so amazing, that it's impossible to compete with that, so that may be the reason.

Okay. So Nora's kidnapped and forgets Patch and everything related. I had some mixed feelings when I realized that they're gonna recap the first two books. First thought was, "what the hell, you're gonna make a book about the first two books???", but luckily, the execution was way better than I expected.

Despite her amnesia, Nora is pretty much the same as always, at least in the beginning. I mean, you see your somewhat-maybe-bf in your dreams, and start whining?? SERIOUSLY? At that point I was only happy that Patch took all her memories of him. But we're lucky to see Nora growing even a little pair. First, she's hitting someone with a shevel! Yay! Finally! I've been waiting when the damsel-in-distress-behavious is over! And then she actually kills someone! Awesome! As I've mentioned earlier, I like my girls kick-ass!

Patch is as distant as ever. For the reader, at least. Of course, there's always drooling included from my side when ever Patch is around, but he's jut like a normal guy. You just can't tell what's going on in his head. Well, he's established to be in love with Nora, so we know that much, but that's about it. Of course, Nora is the main character, but it would be nice to know more about Patch, since he is in a kind of big role in these books.

Oh, and Scott is back! I'm actually kind of happy about that. Maybe, because I have that little weakness for those dumb lovetriangle-thingies. I reeeeally hope we'll see something like that!

And then the other characters. I really got pissed off because of Vee and Nora's mum. What the hell?! Someone has amnesia, so what do you do? Tell her absolutely nothing about anything? Seriously?! And what was this idea about Vee hating boys nowadays?? Guess someone thought she was too into boys, or something, so let' turn it around! Didn't work, at all. She was actually nice as her older self, so I was glad to see that at least Scott got some life into her. And Nora's mum, in love with Nora's archenemy. Acting like puppet. Truly annoying puppet! And Marcie was out of her edge, I liked her meaner. I never thought that would be possible.

And what is up with that everytime Patch and Nora are about to.. get down to business, something happens! Either Nora gets kidnapped or the-thing-that-happened-at-the-end-of-this-book (you have to read it to find out)! Just give them a break allready. There's always Daddy Dearest to interrupt their intimate moments, hopefully that's over now..

As I promised, lots of rambling. Characters annoyed me, but overall I loved this. Just not as much the other books. But now Nora is transformed into something more kick-ass, literally, so can't wait for the next book!
