This is a tough one. I have a thing with covers that are black, and has a thingy in it (Twilight, Lucian..), so obviously hardback would win. But, for some weird reason I like the cover with girl, too. I like the snow and the dress. So let's say, it's a tie.

I like the font in both versions. But that's pretty much all. But, against all my rules, the font is enough in this case. I love the font and swirls in paperback vol. 1. So paperback vol. 1 is the winner.

Soon this book will be mine! Ordered from Amazon and just-can't-wait! I've seen the reviews, and they are really.. different. Some says this book just sucks, and other that this is the greatest book ever! Luckily, I judge by the cover, so this went on my to-buy-list.

Yet another book from library. I once saw this in my near store, and got so excited to read it. I read the first page once, but, again, I stopped reading. Apparently I have that kind of annoying habit.. But I will read this, promise!

It's been quiet.

Sorry for the silence, had some busy week! I've been working, sent some job applications, ordered few (14) new books, but only 9 of these are for me, so that's okay, right?


I just started Reckless by Cornelia Funke, been on my TBR list for a while now. My reading has suffered a little, since the fall is coming, and I need to do some serious knitting and soon! Need to get some gloves, hats and mittens. And socks. So there's a lot going on now, maybe I should buy some audiobooks, so I could both read AND knit at the same time :) That would be lovely.


I just noticed some interesting post in Nocturnal book reviews, I got a thing for the angels right now, so at least Angelfall, Angel's Blood, The Last Archangel and The Fallen 1 goes to my TBR list!

Nuts.

Just went nuts, ordered some stuff from Amazon..
Now all I got to do is to wait for the package. That's not hard, not at all.

*SPOILERS*
I truly hesitated starting this book. Backcover promises some chilling moments, and I usually empathise too much. This book did make me anxious most of the times, but it didn't stop me reading and appreciating it.

Book is written in Katherine's point of view and consists three different timelines - when her sister was murdered, when she met Alice and when she has a daughter. This did confuse me a bit in the beginning.

Story was revelader little by little, which did make me quite anxious at the times. It also made me unhappy to see, how much unhappiness was in Katherine's life. Though many times I was just annoyed, 'cause Katherine just dwells on her misery, year after year.

Katherine's friend Alice plays a big part. Alice is a devious and disturbed girl. Unfortunately, I could totally relate to this kind of relationship, since I've had few of my own. Through the whole book I was screaming to Katie "don't trust her, she's a total whack job!!!!" So yeah, Alice truly annoyed me. But can't say that Katie hadn't had too. Most of the time she's paralyzed by her own fears and is totally playing Alice's game. When she finally decides to be "brave", her boyfriend gets killed! Why couldn't you just let that idiotic girl get drowned by her own stupidity? I totally blame Katie. There's braveness, but this was just plain dumb, that's what got her boyfriend killed.

The book is mostly about Katie doubting herself in. At least she decides to call Robbie, Alice's old boyfriend, in the end. Maybe she finally decides to take some risks and enjoy life.

This book truly raised some feelings, unfortunately they were rarely positive ones. Of course, that doesn't mean, that this hadn't been a good read.

going to die.

I didn't have a clue, what kind of book this would be, when I borrowed it from my library. I just checked the frontcover and thought that it looked nice and simple, black with one white feather flowing. Though I was scared, that since it has 553 pages, I would never actually read the book. Luckily, this isn't what happened.

As I said in my earlier post, I was reading Finnish edition, and had to start this book twice. First time I only read first 16 pages, and was exhausted. I thought that this book isn't for me, that it's just way too slow. The second time I jumped to where I left first time, and it took only two more pages to turn _really_ interesting. After that I couldn't stop reading. Seriously. The story really took me over. It's truly wonderfull to find this kind of book, these are rare and just.. worth reading.

The main character is a girl named Rebecca. Occasionally she's a little silly and/or childish, but that doesn't really bother me, which is nice for a change. Usually I'm just rolling my eyes and thinking "man, aren't you a silly one..". I could just feel her pain, when she was apart from Lucian. Only thing, I didn't like so much, was the ending. It was really really short, only few pages, and I could've just kept reading. But then again, if I love a book, I don't want it to end ever. Because I feel like I'm losing a friend when the story ends. I'm also a sucker for happy endings, so I did actually cry in the end, when Lucian wasn't human anymore. I need that Cinderella-ending "and they lived happily ever after".

Overall, I need to buy a copy for myself. I need this book to my bookshelf. My bookshelf isn't perfect without this book. I could go on and on about this book, so it may be best, if I just give the rating now.

p.s. I actually thought that I wouldn't give 5 cupcakes, but there it is. Maybe a little minus from the end, but there you go, 5 cupcakes!
